Ömer Öngüt- may Allah sanctify his secret- 1927-2010 In the esteemed year of 1927, in the town of Yenipazar, which lies within today's Sandžak region of the former Yugoslavia, Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, graced this world with his presence. His father was Muharrem Efendi, and his mother, Çelebiye Hanım. He descended from the blessed lineage of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, being the grandchild of Sheikh Ahmed of Medina, may Allah sanctify his secret, a noble ancestor hailing from the Prophet's lineage. Sheikh Ahmed, may Allah sanctify his secret, was a revered figure during the Ottoman era, counted among the most esteemed scholars and luminaries of Medina the Radiant. He was a man of miracles, a learned and virtuous individual held in high regard. By some means, the Ottoman government dispatched him temporarily to the Bosnian Province for two years. Upon his journey back, he passed away in the town of Yenipazar. Following this event, his family, including two children, chose not to return to Medina the Radiant but instead settled in Yenipazar. The declarations of the Esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, regarding his grandfathers and his noble lineage are as follows: "His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Efendi, may Allah sanctify his secret, was the father of my maternal grandfather. Stemming from the lineage of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Efendi, may Allah sanctify his secret, was both the sheikh and the sovereign of Medina the Radiant. He was among the greatest scholars of the area. In every land he visited, all the shops would close in honor of his presence. The people would gather to bid him farewell, and only after his departure would the shops reopen. Owing to his noble origin from the esteemed lineage of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, he won deep love and respect from everyone. ... While returning to Medina the Radiant, he fell ill in Yenipazar and passed away there. His burial in that location sparked immense satisfaction among the people. It is said that during the washing of his body, strangers came to perform the ablutions (ritual washing) and shroud him properly. Amidst these events, his two children remained in Yenipazar. My aunt used to recount that his wife could hear the remembrance of Allah (zikrullah) resonating from his heart during the night. He hailed from the noblest lineage of Arabs. We too are his descendants, our lineage traces back to him. However, divine providence bestows its gifts on whom it wills." The father of the esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, Muharrem Efendi, was a revered figure in his hometown of Yenipazar. Known for his completeness, adherence to the divine commandments, and his generosity, he was a prominent merchant. The esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, was only six years old when his father passed away. Following the departure of his father to the realm beyond (the afterlife), the esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, migrated to Turkey with his family around the age of 9 or 10 in the year 1936. "May Allah grant him rest in a light-filled abode; my father was well-versed in the art of nurturing children, educating through his gaze alone. He was a disciplined and well-organized man. The orderliness he possessed seems to have ingrained itself in us, for we continue to reap its benefits even now. We are not familiar with my paternal grandfather. My mother mentioned that he was 'a saint endowed with miracles.'" A Life Adorned with Guidance: When the esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, reached the age of 18-19, he embarked on his spiritual education. He pledged allegiance to Sheikh Halil Fevzi, may Allah sanctify his secret, one of the disciples of the era's pole, Sheikh Muhammad Es'ad Erbilî, may Allah sanctify his secret. In serving this eminent personage, he attained perfection. After the passing of Sheikh Halil Fevzi, may Allah sanctify his secret, in the year 1950, he dedicated a full 60 years of his life to guiding and enlightening people until his own departure from this world The esteemed Ömer Öngüt, may Allah sanctify his secret, was a great Sufi and a leading guide on the path of truth and righteousness, a perfect spiritual mentor. His entire life was devoted to worship, guidance, struggle, and counsel, through which he disseminated his works. He fought and endured for the sake of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad. In his conversations and writings, he elucidated Islam, faith, Allah and His Messenger, Sufism, and the Muhammadan Light. The discourses he delivered were noted down in the 1970s, duplicated with mimeographs, and shared among the community. Subsequently, under his review and approval, these notes began to be published as books. This initiative culminated in a compendium that included interpretations of all noble verses of the Quran, known as “Kalplerin Anahtarı” "The Key to Hearts," comprising 41 volumes. This collection, embodying the essence of Quranic exegesis, was completed towards the end of his life. Ismail Hakkı Bursevi, may Allah sanctify his secret, in one of his revelations, profoundly stated: "Cherish the love for the Seal of Saints, so that you may not even need intercession through it. For this love is such that it abolishes enmities. And this acknowledgment keeps Munkar and Nakir—the interrogating angels of the grave—in astonishment. This affiliation is such that even sovereigns envy it. And this knowledge is such that the minds of the wise are bewildered by it." "And this is a sanctuary where the elite crawl on their faces to reach. And this dome over the tomb stands above the swiftly rotating celestial spheres. And the secret of this tomb is a grand secret that permeates all cities. And this is a book in which the Divine Scriptures are altogether encapsulated. And this is a pen whose tablet is the hearts of the knowledgeable." "And this is a sanctuary where the elite crawl on their faces to reach. And this dome over the tomb stands above the swiftly rotating celestial spheres. And the secret of this tomb is a grand secret that permeates all cities. And this is a book in which the Divine Scriptures are altogether encapsulated. And this is a pen whose tablet is the hearts of the knowledgeable." "And this is a uniquely distinct pattern, such that whoever is dyed with its color shall never fade eternally. And this is a form whose outcome no one can reach, and into whose circle of knowledge no individual can enter." ("Kitâb'ün-Netice"; Volume: 1, Page: 436) He devoted himself to the cause of Allah, serving the path of Allah with no personal goals, aims, or benefits in mind. His life was a battle fought for the sake of Allah, striving to endear Allah and His Messenger to hearts, to unify in the love of Allah and His Messenger, to spread the Muhammadan Light, and to embed the reverence for Allah the Almighty and the Prophet Muhammad in the hearts of the faithful. He took Allah the Almighty and His Messenger as his examples, wholeheartedly submitting to the commands of the Almighty and the Sunnah (the Prophet's tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. He was deeply attached to the Master of Both Worlds, Muhammad Mustafa, peace be upon him, with profound love and immense respect. He possessed a steadfast determination to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet. He exerted great effort in the revival of divine decrees and the esteemed Sunnah. He delineated the radiant path to the Almighty Allah, emphasizing humility and righteousness, and taught this to others. His guide was the Quran and the Sunnah. He always spoke from the noble verses of the Quran and the Hadith. Due to his contributions in knowledge and service on the path of Allah, he founded the "Hakikat Foundation" in 1988. He initiated soup kitchens in over twenty provinces across the country. He began the "Foundation Talks" in Adapazarı in 1990, and at the end of his first talk at that time, he disclosed a secret wisdom: "We, the humble seekers of divine grace, prayed, 'O Allah! Please make this place a branch of the Ravza-i Mutahhara (The Enlightened Garden). The grace is Yours, the favor is Yours.” This place is a sanctuary of brotherhood. Such a brotherhood where there is no goal, no purpose, no benefit, no rank, nothing at all, only divine contentment exists." "In the path of Allah, there is only His pleasure."
