Abdul Razzak Rumane

Abdul Razzak Rumane was born in 1948 at Chandve, a small village in Raigad District of Maharashtra-India. He is son of Abdul Rehman Hasanmiya and Rabia. He completed his primary education at Zilla Parished School in Chandve. Since the village had no facility for secondary education, he joined boarding school at Fajandar High School, Vahoor , a Urdu medium school, where completed Secondary School Examination (S.S.C.) in 1965 (First Class). He then joined Ismail Yusuf College for First year Science and then moved to K.C. College of Bombay University and completed Inter Science in 1967. He then joined Government Engineering College at Aurangabad and obtained Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from Marathwada University-India in 1972 (First Class). He was always keen to upgrade his knowledge and continued with professional courses. He received his Diploma in Modern Management from British Career Training College in 1982 and Diploma in International Trade from British Management Association in 1983. Since then he was interested to take up higher education, as he believed that education can only bring you to the top and thus will make you serve the community with better knowledge in hand. He joined Kennedy Western University and completed his M.S.(General Engineering) in 2002. The topic of thesis was "A Systems Engineering Approach to Construction Projects". He finished Ph.D. with topic of dissertation "Quality Engineering Applications in Construction Projects" from Kennedy-Western University in 2005. He was awarded Honorary Doctorate in Engineering by The Yorker International University in Italy in 2007. Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane is a celebrated engineer having received numerous awards and medals globally. He is listed as one of the IBC's Top 100 Engineers-2009 and is an author of book titled "Quality Management in Construction Projects" published by CRC Press, Florida, USA (A Taylor & Francis Group Company). Dr. Rumane's professional career exceeds 37 Years. It includes varied experience in engineering field. It covers about 10 years of experience in production planning, material management, and vendor development for manufacturing, mining, fertilizer and petrochemical projects, preparation of specifications, contract documents, quality control,material inspection and inspection of electromechanical equipment. Over 27 years of experience mainly relates to construction projects. Well experienced in preparation of Design,Site Supervision, Checking and approval of project shop Drawings and materials , Review of Project Design Drawings, Design management, and Construction management of Electrical related Works including Low Voltage System, H.V. network, Fire Alarm System, Telephone System, Communication System, Public Address System, Audio Visual System, MATV, Security System, CCTV System, Lighting Protection System, Grounding System, Emergency Generating System and Conveying System, Building Management System, and Smart Building System. Well versed in preparation of contract specifications, documents,preparation of QA/QC specifications, BOQ, Shop Drawings,evaluation of tender bids and application of measures for conservation of energy, coordination of Electro-Mechanical Works, and Value Engineering. Assessment and evaluating the functioning of existing systems and preparation of technical reports for rehabilitation work. He is familiar with various national and international codes, regulations, quality standards and their implementation. During the career has ensured that all the works were executed as per specification requirements and meet the quality standards of Various National / International codes and standards. His articles published in various professional journals/newsletters. He worked on various prestigious and technical complex projects in India and International level which include; Pelletization Project, Fertilizer Projects in India, L.P.G. Terminal in Iraq, Logistic Support Projects for Defence forces in Saudi Arabia, Jiddah Island project in Bahrain, and in Kuwait,Oil gathering centres, Low income housing projects, various projects for Kuwait University, Commercial complexes, High-rise Buildings, Traditional souk, Coast Guard Headquarter Project ,Residential complexes, Kuwait State Audit Bureau Headquarter Project,Public Authority for Civil Information Building,Sabah Adult Psychiatric Hospital, International Tennis Complex, Fitness Centre among others. Ltd.1980-81, Engineer/Officer with Toyo Engineering India Ltd.1981-83, Electrical Engineer with Mansour Al Subaie Est.Kuwait.1983-84, Electrical Engineer with Abdallah Al Otaibi Est.Kuwait.1984-86, Electrical Engineer with Jassim Shaban & Sons co.Kuwait.1986-90, Electrical Engineer with Al Othman Center for Architectural and Engineering Design, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.1991, Senior Electrical Engineer with Pan Arab Consulting Engineers Bahrain/Kuwait 1991-99.and Senior Electrical Engineer, Consultant, with Dar al Handasah, Kuwait, 1999-2004, 2004-08 with Pan Arab Consulting Engineers, Kuwait and presently employed with SSH International Engineering Consultant, Kuwait. Dr. Rumane is member of various professional organizations and has also passed certification examination in the required fields. These include; 1. Member, Board of Governor, International Benevolent Research Forum Dr. Rumane has presented technical seminar on various topics which includes; Quality Standards, Total Quality Management, Six Sigma in Construction , and Value Engineering. He has attended professional conferences organised by American Society for Quality, SAVE International, and Kuwait Society of Engineers. Dr. Rumane is recipient of numerous prestigious awards and medals which include; "Top 100 Engineers of 2009 of IBC" (2009) by IBC, " Lifetime Achievement Award" by IIFS 2009,"Laxman Cosmology Award for Excellence in Electrical Engineering" (2008) by Konda Laxman Bapuji Universal Foundation, "Meritorious Service Award" (2007) by SOKJ, Honoured by "Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Samiti and Vande Mataram Foundation" during the birth centenary celebration of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Dr. Rumane has served many organizations with an honorary capacity. He is the President of FRONTLINERS, Kuwait ( a service organisation registered with Embassy of India, State of Kuwait) for the year 2010. He also served in the same position for the year 2009. He was the Chairman of The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter for two terms 2005 and 2006-07, General Secretary for the year 2002-03, and Treasurer for the year 2001-02. He is married to Noor Jehan. She is a housewife. He has two children, one son (Ataullah) and one daughter (Farzeen). Son has completed B.E. (chemical engineering) and M.S. (computer science) whereas Daughter has completed B.E. (electrical engineering). His parents stay at their family house at Chandve Rumane's Philosophies Dr. Rumane believes in the following philosophies: 1) Be sincere and honest with your profession, you will be rewarded. 2) Self-confidence and work dedication will elevate you to the top. 3) Your mission will be incomplete unless you share the grievances of others. 4) When you think of yourself, give a little thought about how you could improve the conditions of other humankind and in particular the less privileged people. 5) Be sure to spend and utilise part of your earnings for uplifting and betterment of downtrodden.
