Dr. Abraham N. Tennenbaum (1960) served nearly eighteen years as a judge in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court. Born and raised in Israel, Dr. Tennenbaum studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a PhD in criminology and an impressive record of published papers in academic journals and newspapers (including the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune and USA Today). During his tenure as a judge, Dr. Tennenbaum has presided over a wide variety of cases – from deadly car accidents to mundane traffic violations, human rights, religion vs. state, and more. His accounts touch on sensitive matters such as discrimination, privacy, personal and commercial rights, and many other pertinent issues of the day. Dr. Tennenbaum is also an avid reader, former tank commander in the IDF Armored Corps, lecturer, and teacher. He lives in Jerusalem with his family.
