Alejandra Lorenzo-Chang was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She spent most of her childhood summers in Chivilcoy, southwest of Buenos Aires. In Chivilcoy, she was surrounded by nature and experienced a slower pace of life. This allowed her imagination to run free. As a nine-year-old in Chivilcoy, Alejandra was inspired to create the story of Yoclivihc. Yoclivihc is an anagram of Chivilcoy ~ the author’s childhood garden of dreams. As an adult, Alejandra studied chemical engineering in Buenos Aires. After completing her studies, she moved to the United States, where she pursued her graduate degree and worked as a scientist, until her first child was born. When her children became school age, Alejandra decided to make a major professional shift. She became an educator and has been teaching in Baltimore, Maryland since 2008.
