ALISON BRYSK is Chair and Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Global Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara. She is the author of eight books on human rights, democracy, globalization, social movements, gender, and Latin American politics. The latest--ABORTION RIGHTS BACKLASH: The Struggle for Democracy in Europe and the Americas--will be published by Oxford University Press in FEBRUARY 2025. Brysk has held fellowships at the Woodrow Wilson Center (Washington DC) and Fulbrights in Canada, India, and the UK. She has lectured in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bhutan, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czechia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and Taiwan. She is the proud mother of two amazing young women.
