Alma Ruiz Velasco

Born in Aguascalientes, México, Alma Ruiz Velasco obtained her Ph.D in astrophysics from the University of Guanajuato. Her main research was in the area of stellar evolution. She worked for five years at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona and joined the public program as a full time educator. Back in Mexico she published her first book "El Espinazo de la Noche". She writes astronomy guides and paints her own illustrations using watercolors.
