Amanda Miles taught children from 4 to 11 for many years before deciding to publish her books. She always loved science and was fascinated with how the body works. One day her son asked her how a scab was made and like all good teachers she said she would find out. That research led to the Cell Wars books. Although Cell Wars is a work of fiction, it contains accurate science facts about the body. Cell Wars was awarded the silver medal in The Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards and was shortlisted in The Rubery Book Awards in 2014. "To read for pleasure is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children and books educate more than a classroom ever can." Recently she has updated the Cell Wars series and her latest publication is the third in the Cell Wars series 'Cancer Attack'. She is also working on picture books with the same characters to introduce younger readers to the Cell Wars series. She recently published a fictional novel 'Mrs Nobody' set in Lapland, based on the real story of how Lapland became a tourist attraction.
