Ronald Reagan was president. The longest running singles were "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne and Friends and "Walk Like an Egyptian" by The Bangles. Ubi Soft was founded. Ferris Bueller's Day Off was released in theaters. And I was born. The year? 1986. Growing up, I was a quiet kid, an only child, actually. And I loved to read. So much so that in elementary school, I got additional reading homework assignments. I wasn't particularly good at sports, playing softball for a year ended with a black eye and a bruised ego. But reading and writing, I loved. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Graduating from high school there, and eventually moved on to Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, where I majored in journalism for a year. Realized quickly that it wasn't what I wanted to do, and floundered for the next couple of years, working retail and customer service at a large telecom company. Now, I'm a freelance writer and a novelist. In 2010, I was struck with this idea for a book. Now, I had been writing since I was a kid, I had several notebooks and binders and documents on my computer of various stories. But this one was the first cohesive idea I had that I felt was good enough that I would want other people to read it. And The Road Home was born. I self-published it in 2011, and the rest is history. I'm currently focused on writing YA and NA - both contemporary and fantasy - although that doesn't make me sound focused at all, I'll admit. I live in Indianapolis with my boyfriend and our dog Copper. And when I'm not writing, I'm probably reading (YA, most likely, it is my first love), watching TV, or playing video games.
