Ammarah Rehman

Ammarah Rehman (she/her) works for Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui of Cambridge, MA. Prior to working in the Mayor’s office, Ammarah worked at the Aspen Institute and developed workshops for executive leaders at community colleges in order to improve student outcomes in the workforce and eliminate achievement gaps. She also worked in Bukittinggi, Indonesia, where she taught English as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. Ammarah never saw herself as a writer but her father’s stories about living in America always lingered through her head. She felt inspired by his stories of grit and resilience and wrote this book. Her goal is to showcase the stories of immigrants who face innumerable challenges in their journey of settling. Ammarah is passionate about addressing inequities in her community and often works with immigrant populations in Cambridge. In her free time, you can find her teaching English at a local community center. Ammarah holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Studies from American University.
