Ana Lucia Araujo is a social and cultural historian. As a comparative historian, whose work embraces a transnational approach, her books explore the history and the memory of the Atlantic slave trade and slavery, and its present legacies, as well as the visual culture of slavery. She authored or edited fifteen books. A member of the Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Slave Route Project, she is a Full Professor in the Department of History at Howard University (Washington, DC), United States.
