Ana Washington

Ana Washington is a passionate storyteller committed to crafting heartfelt and inclusive children's books that celebrate culture, faith, and family. As a first-generation Mexican-American Muslim and a mother of five, she deeply values the power of representation in children's literature. Through her stories, she hopes to foster pride, belonging, and understanding among young readers. In her debut book, Yusef’s Ramadan: A Celebration of Family, Faith, and Culture, Ana introduces readers to the beauty of Ramadan through the eyes of Yusef, an African-American, Mexican Muslim boy. Through his journey—his first attempt at fasting, cherished family traditions, delicious foods, and the spirit of giving—Ana invites children of all backgrounds to experience the joy of this sacred month. Ana’s mission is to inspire children to embrace their identities and celebrate the diverse cultures that make up their world.
