Anand Parekh, MD was born in Detroit, Michigan to Indian immigrant parents. After completing undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Michigan, he left for Johns Hopkins Hospital to complete his medical training. Along the way, he developed a passion for health policy and served for a decade at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. His first book, "Prevention First - Policymaking for a Healthier America," written while at the Bipartisan Policy Center and based on his career experiences, argues that we must make disease prevention our nation's top health policy priority.
