I am a scholar of Kabbalah thematically working on the popularization of Jewish mysticism in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. More specifically, I am interested in how technological shifts in society such as book printing impact the ways people read and assimilate knowledge, while prompting the emergence of new types of literary genres more suitable to advancing their comprehension of a subject. In the past year or two, I have shifted my scholarly focus to Jewish magical manuscripts from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries written in East-Central Europe to probe question of Jewish magic, medicine, science, and Kabbalah especially as these questions relate to women and the female body.
