Andrei Daniel Proca is a high school student from Columbus, Ohio. He enjoys the great outdoors, competitive swimming, cross-country, and a good old chess game. When he is not busy practicing sports or working on his Math and Science projects, he reads and plays piano. His first literary creation was the result of a school project in 3rd grade Language-Arts class. During middle school years, he had taken the NaNoWriMo challenges and subsequently created three adventure books for teens, to reflect his joyful, energetic, and playful personality. Andrei is a 2017 recipient of a a silver key from Scholastic Writing Awards for the essay" A Swimmer's Mile". In 2016 he received several Scholastic Writing Awards, Midwest Region at Large, as follows: 2 Gold keys for personal essay “Amazing Amazon” and poem “I AM” and 2 Honorable Mentions for personal essay “A Day at the Beach” and Science Fiction story “Where am I?” He was also an awardee of Scholastic Writing Awards 2015, Midwest Region at large, with one Honorable Mention for flash fiction “A Swimmer’s journey.”
