My name is Andrew Latham and I have been a youth soccer coach for over 20 years. I have been fortunate to work with youth players in the United States, England and Canada at all levels from grassroots developmental stages all the way up to players who aspire to play professional soccer. Currently as head coach of the Lower Island Soccer Association my focus is on program and coach development and I also play a leading role in the high performance program here on Vancouver Island. We have over 7700 players and more than 600 teams so its a demanding role but I am fortunate to work with some great people in our district. I am also a Master Learning Facilitator for Soccer here in British Columbia, it sounds really important but it just means that I get to certify and train coach educators! I am also involved in the Club Charter Standards program for BC Soccer and its part of my job to help our clubs provide programs for the players. When I'm not at work I am a dad and a husband. My wife Joanne has been received many awards for putting up with me for all these years and my two kids Hope and Ollie have also received awards and I am sure they will win many more. In my spare time I like to read, listen to music and walk our dog, or should I say follow the dog, around our town. My goal with Soccer Smarts is to help young soccer players improve their skills and be the best player that they can be.
