Andy Belsey

Andy grew up surrounded by history in Kent, England, which fostered a love of the past. He also became fascinated in making models and become a professional architectural modelmaker in 1981. His favourite projects have always been historical buildings and he has specialised in sculptural work or landscapes. In his spare time, he has continued to make his own military models and these are what has brought him public attention. He created a series of educational WW1 trench models and these went viral on the internet during the WW1 Centenaries. His online blogging of how he creates models was part of what brought him attention. Magazine articles have now led to a published book on WW1 Trench Warfare which is getting good feedback from historians as well as modelmakers.
