Angus An is a critically acclaimed and award-winning chef. He grew up in Taiwan, moved to Canada when he was young, and graduated both with a degree in Fine Arts, and from the French Culinary Institute in New York. Angus has worked or staged at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. He fell in love with Thai Cuisine at Nahm, working under renowned chef David Thompson. Angus opened his own restaurant, Gastropod, in 2006, followed by Maenam in 2009. to date, it has won 10 consecutive awards from Vancouver Magazine, been ranked among Canada's best restaurants by Malean's and Canada's Top 100 Restaurants, and achieved a Zagat rating of 27 ("Extraordinary to Perfection"). He has since opened five other casual eateries, each with a distinct concept, serving casual Thai and Southeast Asian street food.
