When I was very young, so the story goes, my mother made a deal with me. I agreed to give up my baby blanket in exchange for a peek inside the Maple Avenue School. Supposedly I took one look at the children in Miss McCormick's kindergarten class and thrust my blankie away on the spot. A few years later I spent my mornings watching I Love Lucy and my afternoons with Miss McCormick. Now I live in Manhattan, a few blocks from Lucy and Ricky's TV apartment.
