Some years ago, I found a print of a beautiful painting. A nude woman was sitting on a horse at the waters edge. Her long hair covered her body and her face was turned to look at a majestic fjord. I fell in love with the scene and purchased it to bring it home. After studying the painting, I decided that the woman was named Freyja and the setting was in Norway. Soon, a story began to unfold during the time between my resting and sleep. This young woman’s life was in the late Viking Age and she was a farm girl who dreamed of loving a man in her future. Her character, along with others, developed in my dreams and were then put on paper. After more than a year I finally had a story outlined for a trilogy. I decided to reach out to the artist of the painting and was given permission to use a version of it; “Daybreak” by Kevin Roeckl, for my first book cover. This beautiful piece was a powerful inspiration for The Norse Prophecy Series. The first iteration/publishing of this story was named “Nordic Prophecy”. After several rewrites I recently published the more in-depth story as the first of The Norse Prophecy Series. I had learned that there is a difference between the meaning of the words, Norse and Nordic, and there is some debate about them being interchangeable. The countries of the Nordic council include Finland which did not share Scandinavian culture during the time setting of my books and did not revere the Norse gods. The Finnish language is also not a Germanic language. I apologize for any confusion or difficulty in finding my book.
