Anthony is a graduate of the University of Bradford (B.Sc Hons, Archaeology) and the University of Leeds (M.Res, History). He has worked in heritage and museums for over a decade, including the Museum of the Manchester Regiment and the Science & Industry Museum, Manchester. Anthony was also a lecturer in archaeology and local history at Salford College. Anthony has appeared on TV, including Channel 4 "Time Team" and "Secret History of the Railways" by Channel 5. Anthony's main spheres of expertise are the Crimean War and the Early Railways, and he has written extensively on both. He is an active Railway Volunteer at S&IM and at the National Railway Museum in York, which has given him unique insights into the early railways through being a fireman and trainee driver on the replica 'Planet' Locomotive. He also volunteers at the Foxfield Railway. Anthony is member of the Railway & Canal Historical Society - including its Early Railways and Railway History groups - and also the Newcomen Society.
