April Harrison

April Harrison, was born in Greenville, South Carolina. Her career began as an LPN ( licensed practical nurse) but soon turned into a career as a medical claims processor. For 25 years/plus she worked in the insurance field . In the late 90's, she decided to pursue her first love.. FINE ART. In 2019, April took a leap of faith to pursue her art full-time, focusing mainly on children's books illustration. She is currently working on her third book, "Shirley Chisholm Dared"written by Alicia D. Williams. Her original paintings can be found in both public and private collections worldwide. Her first illustrated book, "What Is Given From The Heart" written by the late Patricia McKissack won the 2020 Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe award for new illustrator.
