I'm Arisa, an educator and author dedicated to creating fun and engaging educational books for all ages. Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, I earned my degree from a university in Kyoto before moving to the United States to study Popular Culture. I received a master's degree in Popular Culture from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and later completed a Ph.D. in Folklore at Indiana University, Bloomington. Throughout my Ph.D. journey, I taught Japanese at both private and public universities, while also taking advanced courses in Japanese pedagogy to refine my teaching skills. My academic focus lies in Japanese popular culture and folklore, with a particular interest in food studies. With this unique background, I aim to make learning enjoyable and accessible through interactive books that combine educational content with creative activities. As a mother of bilingual Japanese-English children and wife to a husband fluent in Japanese, my personal life also reflects my deep passion for language and culture. When I'm not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring art and nature, and coming up with new ways to make learning fun. I hope my books inspire both children and adults to learn creatively. Be sure to check out my latest titles, including "Fun Hiragana Activity book," available now!
