Arjun Kumar Gupta, a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, received his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Poona University in India, a bachelor’s degree from Banaras Hindu University in India, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Over the span of his fifty-three years of teaching, he advised more than thirty PhD students, who themselves have over forty-six students. Dr. Gupta is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association, and member of the Institute of Statisticians, the Royal Statistical Society of England, and other professional organizations. He received the Olscamp Research Award in 1990. He is the author of more than 530 articles, and he has edited, co-edited or co-authored over twenty books on statistics. He has traveled to more than forty countries presenting his research and teaching statistics. His research in the statistical subject known as Wilks’ Lambda is still in use today.
