I am a first-generation Afghan American, humanitarian, author, motivational speaker, and former financial services professional. I left my country of birth Afghanistan right after the Soviet invasion and arrived in Germany as a refugee in mid 1980. I later immigrated to the United States where I began my twenty-nine-year banking career as a teller and climbed the ladder as senior VP and regional manager. With deep passion and pride in my heritage and journey, I wrote my first book, a memoir “Lost Decency” (The Untold Afghan Story), winner of the First Year Benjamin Franklin Book Award. I went on to publish my second book titled “Immigrant Success Planning” followed by my latest resource guide, “The Self-Sufficient Global Citizen,” a comprehensive resource guide for immigrant families’ uses worldwide. Excited as I prepare for the launch of my upcoming book "Afghanistan Untold", an illustrated version of Afghanistan's profile and its 100+ history this fall.
