Barry Finnerty

Barry Finnerty (1951-) was born and grew up in San Francisco, California, the son of actor Warren (Easy Rider, Cool Hand Luke, The Connection) and English teacher/classical pianist Ruth. He moved to New York City in 1973 and played guitar with some of the giants of jazz: Miles Davis, Hubert Laws, the Brecker Bros, the Crusaders. He also released several albums as a leader. After moving back to the SF Bay Area in 1998, he authored two acclaimed "Serious Jazz" educational books, and most recently, his hilarious semi-autobiographical novel "START". He also continues to make music and perform worldwide, whenever possible, with Randy Brecker and also his own BBFC (Bad BF Collective) band based out of Hamburg, Germany.
