Ben Lerwill is an award-winning travel writer and children's author. His writing has appeared in publications such as National Geographic Traveller, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, BBC Travel, BBC Countryfile and Time Out. Over the years, his work has taken him to all seven continents and more than 90 countries. Wildlife, the outdoors, hiking, rail journeys, cycling, sustainable travel, sport, music, history and food are all areas of special interest. He has won more than a dozen industry awards for his writing, including being named Specialist Travel Writer of the Year at the Travel Media Awards, and has been shortlisted on multiple occasions for both the AITO Travel Writer of the Year and the British Guild of Travel Writers' Travel Writer of the Year. His books for children often tie in with his work as a travel writer, with many titles reflecting his passion for nature and the wider world. Among them, WildLives (Nosy Crow) was named ‘Book of the Month’ in National Geographic Kids’ Magazine, Around The World In 80 Trees (Welbeck) was shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Children’s Nature Writing, Wild Family (Puffin) was named Children’s Book of the Week in the Sunday Times, Let's Play Football (Welbeck) was shortlisted for the WAYRBA Picture Book of the Year, and Stone Age Beasts (Walker) was named Editor's Choice in The Bookseller. He lives in a small village in England with his family and a sporadically obedient dog.
