Benjamin Lai

关于作者

My name is Benjamin Lai. I have a lifelong interest in China and the Far East, and I write books about military history, Politics and Current Affairs. Many are about China or have a Far East connection, but I also have an interest in 19th and 20th-century warfare in general and the interaction between Western and Eastern Culture in general. My latest book is “Shanghai and Nanjing 1937: Massacre on the Yangtze” published by Osprey publishing of Oxford England. I have just finished writing my next two books, also by Osprey Publishing The Chinese Infantryman vs The Japanese soldier: China 1937-1938 (for 2018) and Chinese Ironclad Battleships vs Japanese Protected Cruisers: Battle of the Yalu River 1894” (for publishing in 2019). I have been interested in Asian Affairs for many years. I took my first degree in Newcastle Upon Tyne in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding and have a MSoc in Development Studies from City University of Hong Kong. In 11996 I gained my Commission in the British Army (reserve) and served for 13 years. My next interest is to publish a book on China, the pending title is “The world through Chinese eyes” to explains the actions of thinking of the Chinese from a Chinese perspective. China is rising, and more interaction between the East and the West will happen. The West needs to learn and understand how China, works, from a Chinese and not a foreigner looking from the outside. You can contact me via my two publishers www.castmatepublishing.co.uk and www.ospreypublishing.com
