Benjamin Paloff grew up in Atlantic City and is is the author of two collections of poetry--The Politics (2011) and And His Orchestra (2015)--and of a critical volume, Lost in the Shadow of the Word: Space, Time, and Freedom in Interwar Eastern Europe (2016). The recipient of grants and fellowships from the US Fulbright Program, the National Endowment for the Arts, and PEN/American Center, he has translated several works from Central and Eastern Europe. He is associate professor of Slavic languages and literatures and of comparative literature at the University of Michigan.
