Benni Star

A couple random things about who I am-   My favorite color is any shade of brown and I am obsessed with tweed, wool, and flannel. ♦ I was/am a photographer for 17 years for local families and children, and I still plan to dabble in it for anyone who needs me. ♦ I never thought I was smart enough or talented enough to write or illustrate my own book, but somehow I am out here giving it my best shot. ♦ Given the chance to be anywhere in the world, I still think I would prefer sitting on the beach in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan picking rocks up off the shoreline. ♦ I find peace in remembering the forgotten. ♦  I'm a vintage soul and have loved Lawrence Welk and I Love Lucy since I was a toddler, proving my whole life that not all kids are the same.  ♦ Gardening food for my family and for others is more than a passion, it's part of me. ♦ Food puns bring me to tears every - single - time with my favorite being "Lettuce Turnip the beet."  haha.... ahhh, it's a good one. ♦  I love the smell of ferns, dirt, and the woods. ♦ My birth name is Britnee, but when writing I go by Benni Star. This was a name created that mixed my grandma and grandpa together. ♦ I think that the most healing thing you can do for your mind is to walk barefoot and get your hands dirty. ♦  Bragging and being rude are the two things that I will never understand. ♦  I have a real life hero for a husband, 4 beautiful sassy daughters, 2 indoor cats, 2 ducks, 4 indoor dogs,  1 rabbit... and I'm sure there is a partridge out there somewhere in our pear tree.   I am grateful to have a shot at creating my own stories and to share them with you and your littles.  I write from my heart, and not with a strong education. This leaves my stories not "professional" in the way that they are written, but for me, that is ok. I struggle with some hiccups in my brain that leave me unable to retain information very easily. Schooling wasn't something that I could grasp, which left me to use what I could bring to the table. I might not be able to bring you a rhyme that is structured properly, but I can bring you a rhyme that my ears, heart, and mind create to entertain and connect with your littles.
