Bergen Brown Jr. is from the Football Hall of Fame city Canton, Ohio. He grew up in a single parent household with two siblings where love for each other was the only thing they had left of value. He worked a dead-end factory job after graduating high school where he quickly learned life wasn’t getting easier, and his lack of resources didn’t make it any better. Bergen decided to join the United States Navy to create opportunity. He found himself working in 100+ degree weather on the flight deck of a warship where he met some of the greatest friends and influences in his network today. On deployment, Bergen read motivational books and understood his great contributions to this country, but that career wasn’t the pinnacle for him. The turning point for Bergen was a near-death experience laying in his own pool of blood on an operating table that reinforced his choice to go on his pursuit of happiness. He was honorably discharged from the service and chose to go to considerably 'foreign land' where he knew no one and worked his way from the bottom. Today, Philadelphia is where Bergen is putting his best foot forward. Currently, Bergen manages the operating expense financial planning and analysis for National Operations at a Blackstone portfolio company. He leads the transformation of financial reporting into business intelligence tools for the Operations department. He also guides over two hundred property managers through the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly variance analysis for a roughly $100 billion portfolio. Bergen is a proud honorable Navy veteran that served two deployments on an amphibious assault ship, including humanitarian efforts in the wake of Hurricane Irma and Maria.
