Bethan Woollvin is an author and illustrator, best known for her feisty feminist fairytale series. Retelling the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood, Bethan’s debut picture book ‘Little Red’ won the Macmillan Children’s Book Competition in 2014, was named a New York Times ‘Best Illustrated Book’ in 2016, won the AOI World Illustration Awards for children’s books in 2017, and was nominated for both the Little Rebels Children’s Book Award, and the Klaus Flugge Prize in 2017. Bethan continued her twisted fairytale series, with ‘Rapunzel’, ‘Hansel & Gretel’ and her latest original tale, ‘I Can Catch a Monster’. While studying a degree in illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, Bethan learned how to tell stories with pictures, and even penned her first children’s book ‘Little Red’ while at university. Since graduating, Bethan has worked on both her own written and illustrated titles, as well as being commissioned to illustrate for other authors. The latest title Bethan has worked on with another author is ‘Meet the Planets’ written by Caryl Hart. Bethan lives and works in Sheffield, along with her partner and little scruffy dog, Podrick.
