Bethan Woollvin

Bethan Woollvin is an award-winning author and illustrator celebrated for her bold, feminist twists on classic fairytales. While pursuing a degree in illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, Bethan discovered her passion for storytelling through pictures. It was during her studies that she created her first children’s book, Little Red. This inventive retelling of Little Red Riding Hood won the Macmillan Children’s Book Competition in 2014, earned a spot as a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 2016, and received numerous accolades, including the AOI World Illustration Award for Children’s Books in 2017. Building on the success of Little Red, Bethan expanded her feisty fairytale series with Rapunzel and Hansel & Gretel. She has also created her own original stories with adventures such as I Can Catch a Monster, Three Little Vikings, and Luna & the Sky Dragon. In addition to her own creations, Bethan has collaborated with author Caryl Hart to illustrate a series of engaging non-fiction picture books, including Meet the Planets, Meet the Oceans, Meet the Weather, and Meet the Dinosaurs. Bethan lives and works in Sheffield, alongside her partner and their two scruffy dogs, Podrick and Panko.
