Inspired by the many teachers who empowered me, I became an educator and enjoyed a fifty-year career. Retired now, I am Professor Emerita at Georgia State University and hold degrees from The William Paterson University, Purdue University, and Indiana University. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. Seeing Eye Girl: A Memoir of Madness, Resilience, and Hope is my debut book for the general public. Life's Turning Points: A Personal Reflection Journal is a companion book for readers who also want to write about their own life journeys. My current focus is to stimulate discussions and action on the issues of childhood trauma/Adverse Childhood Experiences, mental health, and the important role of trusted adult mentors/teachers in the lives of children. I do this through my writing, speaking, and advocacy work.
