Bill Hoeft

Bill Hoeft grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, where he attended Lincoln High School until the end of his junior year when he and his mother moved to Monroe, Iowa. It was in Monroe that he met Mia Clevenger, his wife of twenty-seven years (and counting). After high school he attended Buena Vista College and Mia went to the opposite end of the state to attend the University of Iowa. Two years later he joined the US Navy in 1988. After boot camp he married, packed up, and moved to San Diego with Mia. Honorably discharged in 1991, the couple moved to the Iowa City/Coralville area when Mia was accepted to medical school at the University of Iowa. Most of Bill's adult life has been spent in the service of people. He has served as a police officer, an educator, a correctional officer, as well as in the Navy. His volunteer activities have included coaching numerous sports for children ranging in age from preschool to high school. He has served as an elder and deacon at his church, and two terms on the Coralville City Council. He is the father of three children - Morgan, Rachel, and Will.
