I spent my career in nursing--Psych, Clinical Research, Public Health. Now retired, my bucket list largely consists of reading and writing--I am an Amazon junkie--things that are often squeezed out of a busy life. It's my pleasure to share with you my experience, strength and hope through my devotional meditations on various books of the Bible, along with a bit of fiction. I am a Philadelphia native; my wife, also a nurse, is from west Africa; and I have three outstanding adult children and five beloved grandchildren. So, I am quite rich, you see! I have participated in many parts of the church: Catholic, Pentecostal, and Fundamentalist Evangelical--I am quite the mongrel. I consider myself to be a New Testament Christian; there were no denominations then, and belief and practice were determined solely by the Holy Scriptures--which have divine authority, are free of error, and are the standard for all truth. We live in troubled times, confused times, and there is a great deal of misinformation trumpeted abroad. What is to be believed? Who can be trusted? There couldn't be a better time than right now to return to this treasured Book of books, God's Holy Word, and re-center ourselves on the eternal Reality it reveals and portrays. Great joy and contentment are there to be had, along with comfort, courage and assurance. My hope is that those who join me in my published reflections will receive a healthy and generous helping of these and much more--all the spiritual bounty that comes from knowing our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By the way, I have had strayings--I am a recovered alcoholic--and I'm here to tell you that His Love and Grace are inescapable. And a life of obedience to the One whose ways are always right and always bring blessing is immeasurably more satisfying than all the world's shiny allurements, which are like a baited mousetrap!--they look so good up front, but all the PAIN is on the back end. Let's follow this faithful Shepherd--our Warrior King, so regal and brave and manly, who is also kind and gentle and astonishingly humble. No looking back. We're nearly Home. Additional facts about me: I do not belong to a political party. I believe there is only one race (the human). I am a Judeophile and a Zionist. I believe that all are welcomed into God's eternal family but that many (far too many) are declining His invitation. I believe that the end of the age is near. I believe that--despite claims to the contrary--we are not nearly as smart, as enlightened or as virtuous as our ancestors in many instances. I believe it's time to wake up: "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."
