Dr. Boukary Sawadogo an African film and media scholar who has published extensively on the history, theory, and industry of filmmaking on the continent. Also, he is a filmmaker and the founding director of "Harlem African Animation Festival", the first festival in the United States to be exclusively devoted to animated films and series from Africa. Beyond film and media industries in Africa, Dr. Boukary Sawadogo's work is widening in scope and depth to include a study of the African diaspora and the trajectory of Africa in the world today. On the subject of the encounters and exchanges between Africa and the diasporas, he has recently authored the book “Africans in Harlem: The Untold New York Story” (Fordham University Press, 2022).
