When Cleon Jones of the New York Mets made the final out of the 1969 World Series, it sealed the fate of the Baltimore Orioles. But it ignited my lifelong obsession with baseball. As a 9-year old Oriole fan, I was disappointed when they lost the World Series, but I was captivated by their dominance and the performance of their bevy of superstars. It was also the year I wrote my first short story, published in my elementary school paper. Recently, I have combined my two obsessions by contributing numerous articles to various baseball blogs and published a short story about an Oriole fan's surprising interaction with Babe Ruth called "Bark of the Spotted Beagle." In October of 2000, I ran my first marathon at the age of 40 in Dublin, Ireland and went on to finish ten more across the United States. Currently, I train to participate in the 200 and 400 meter runs at Masters track meets and play tennis multiple times a week. I work for a large law firm and live in Connecticut with Michelle and nine gratefully rescued cats.
