The author has been consuming movies from old Hollywood, since she was a child. At university, she did a three-year course in screenwriting, and gained a BA Hons degree. She has spent some years, sifting through thousands of vintage newspapers and magazines. This has allowed her to retrieve gems of information which had lain forgotten for 80 years. She was surprised at how much unfamiliar material was available about Gone With the Wind and the film's actors, that had not been printed in any other books. The author has visited archives in America and England. She was able to peruse the letters and diaries once belonging to Vivien Leigh, and handled a postcard sent from Paulette Goddard to Hedda Hopper. She has been through census forms, old passport applications and vintage shipping records. The author has worked for IMAX and in the library service, and she wishes more classic movies were shown on television today. She likes to spend her vacations in Los Angeles, where the beaches are beautiful and the palm trees are tall. If you enjoy her work, please leave a review.
