Cameron Stracher

Cameron Stracher grew up on Long Island, went to college at Amherst, law school at Harvard, and got his MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop. His first novel, The Laws of Return, was published by William Morrow in 1996 while he was working as litigation counsel at CBS. His non-fiction account of his life as a law firm associate, Double Billing: A Young Lawyer's Tale of Greed, Sex, Lies, and a Swivel Chair, was also published by Morrow in 1998. In 2001, he began teaching at New York Law School, and eventually became the Publisher of the Law Review and the Co-Director of the school's Program in Law & Journalism. His second book of non-fiction, Dinner with Dad: How I Found My Way Back to the Family Table, was published by Random House in 2007 and optioned for television by 3Arts Entertainment. In 2011, Sourcebooks published his first YA novel, the dystopian thriller The Water Wars. In 2013, his non-fiction book about running, Kings of the Road, was published by Houghton Mifflin. In 2014, it was named best book of the year by the American Track & Field Writers of America. His latest book, The Curve, a comic novel co-written with Jeremy Blachman, was published in 2016, and developed for television by NBC. Cameron is the founder of a media and entertainment law firm, Cameron Stracher, PLLC, which handles defamation, privacy, and copyright matters, as well as provides pre-publication and transactional advice to many of the country's leading content producers. The firm's clients include software companies like Adobe, news and information publishers like Newsweek and MailOnline, and the producers of Quiet on Set, Scientology and the Aftermath, Indian Matchmaking, Secrets of Playboy, On Patrol Live, Live PD, Bling Empire, and My Unorthodox Life. Previously, Cameron was General Counsel - Media at American Media, where he supervised all pre-publication review for the National Enquirer, Star and OK! magazines and all litigation for American Media publications, and prior to that he was a partner, and then Of Counsel, at the media law boutique Levine, Sullivan, Koch & Schulz.
