Carlee Hunter

关于作者

Hi there, my name is Carlee! SassyCarl is the nickname that has stuck with me since grade school. (I’m 29) And let me tell you, it’s a very deep-rooted name. Even now in my adult life, so many people call me SassyCarl that when someone drops my government name, it nearly offends me. You wouldn't believe the laughs and questions I get when calling to make appointments… “Incoming call from Sassycarl.” Yep. Thanks to my spouse, it was my caller ID for literal YEARS. I had no idea till my eye doctor finally asked, “Are you aware that you’re ringing in as SassyCarl when you call here?” he giggled. My face turned red, as I immediately contemplated canceling my visit by lying and telling them I no longer had eyes, and that I lost them both in a freak accident. Anyway, I'm a small-town, country girl who rode her way into the city on a bunch of scholarships that landed me at a private art institute, where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing and merchandising. What did I do with my degree, you ask? NOTHING. I worked at a restaurant. The BEST restaurant. I proudly gave 10, incredible years to that place and cultivated 2-lifetimes worth of relationships amongst the most special people. I live to serve others, and I mean that from the depths of my being. With that being said, you can only imagine my devastation when the restaurant took on flames in 2023. The fire revealed more than just the bones of the building. More than I care to share. But I will say, I completely lost myself. There's a lot of unseen pain and mental trauma that comes along with the experience of an identity crisis. I can’t believe I’m even alive, but I'm truly happy that my tribulations and soul-searching have brought me here to create, for others. Too often we ask our children, “What do you wanna be when you grow up?” When we should be asking, “What kind of human do you want to become?” And if their answer is: “a kind human,” Then, our job is to guide them to be just that. See… I’m not all Sass!
