Carlos Frías

Carlos Frías is the James Beard award-winning food editor at the Miami Herald, where he tells Miami's stories through food. He is a bilingual writer, a journalist of more than 25 years and the author of an award-winning memoir published by Simon & Schuster/Atria: “Take Me With You: A Secret Search for Family in a Forbidden Cuba.” He has told dirty jokes to Shaquille O’Neal, fed croquetas to chef and Nobel Peace Prize nominee José Andrés, dodged Cuban soldiers on the island and co-wrote a funny/terrible four-minute film in a comic book store. Miami is his hometown and the bottomless quarry where he mines stories. He lives there with his three daughters.
