Carol Kaye. I've done over 10,000 record dates and film calls as #1 Call bassist in Hollywood Studio Work 1960s-70s, am the bassist on Mission Impossible, MASH, Hawaii 5-O, Bill Cosby's first TV show, Ironside, Sts. of San Francisco, Kojak, Brady Bunch, etc....most of the Beach Boys hit recordings, Ray Charles, David Axelrod, Nancy Sinatra, Righteous Bros., Herb Alpert, Buckinghams, Hondels, Jan & Dean, Andy Williams, Joe Cocker, Glen Campbell etc., all the Quincy Jones scored movies 1960s-70s, Thomas Crown Affair, Airport, Change of Habit, 100s of movie and TV show scores and 1,000s of hit records (guitar on 1950s hits, bass on hits since 1963) and wrote the authoritative books and courses on elec. bass, an instrument I gave the name to with my first book "How To Play The Electric Bass" in 1969. Have authored over 30 books and courses for the Elec. Bass as well as teaching jazz guitar since 1949 (played jazz guitar in all the fine jazz clubs in LA late 1950s before doing studio work), teaching bass since 1969. Was voted #3 elec. bass on jazz polls in magazines mid 1980s when playing with jazz greats Joe Pass and Hampton Hawes. Fortunately, my books have sold 100s of 1,000s worldwide for decades, helping 10s of 1,000s of bassists, enabling them to have good playing careers, and are endorsed by vips in the music world also. Have personally taught over 5,000 fine bassists, some very famouis such as John Clayton, Dave Hungate, Roy Vogt, Mike Porcaro, Chas. Meeks, Alf Clausen (composer of Simpsons), Marco Panasica, etc. and my books have been used by: Jaco, Sting, Stu Hamm, Abe Laboriel, Christian McBride, John Paul Jones, Tiran Porter, Hutch Hutchison, other fine bassists. Currently still teaching in-person and with SKYPE, doing film & radio interviews, developing more jazz products for guitar and bass, writing my autobiography book, and a documentary is currently being filmed on me. I raised 3 children, and happy to be on Facebook helping other musicians also, and enjoying my fans.
