Carrie Sampson, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the Division of Educational Leadership and Innovation at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on how leadership and policymaking in K-12 education influence equity and social justice for marginalized communities. Dr. Sampson’s work examines school district governance, with particular attention to the roles of school boards, community advocacy, decentralization, and school choice policies. She specializes in case studies and qualitative research methods. Dr. Sampson’s scholarship has garnered significant recognition, including the National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the American Educational Research Association Division A (Administration, Organization, and Leadership) Early Career Award. She also received the UCEA William J. Davis Award for her article, “(Im)Possibilities of Latinx School Board Members’ Educational Leadership Toward Equity.” Dr. Sampson is also the mother of two school-aged children. In her spare time, she enjoys camping with her family, finding good eats, and staying active with her peloton community.
