Catherine Lalut is a Senior Mining Engineer with over 12 years of experience in both underground and open-pit mines across Australia and Chile. She is the founder and president of Women in Mining & Engineering WA (WMEWA), an organization dedicated to supporting and mentoring new generations of female engineers worldwide. She also works as a director, coach, and mentor specializing in mining and exploration. Catherine's diverse experience covers various exploitation methods, from narrow vein open-stoping to large block caving and open-cut operations. Her impressive career includes roles with BHP Nickel West, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, St Barbara Limited, Dacian Gold Limited, Codelco Chile—El Teniente Mine, and an Australian consulting firm. In 2020, Catherine founded Women in Mining & Engineering WA (Western Australia) to promote the empowerment of women and girls globally.
