Charlotte Klaar PhD

Dr. Klaar utilizes a no-nonsense, no-excuses style as she works with students to make the college search, application and essay process an adventure of self-discovery and growth. Along the way, she helps students learn to make informed decisions and to own the college search process. Charlotte is a Certified Educational Planner and a respected member of the IECA. She previously served the IECA as: • a Board Member and as • chair of the Board Development Committee. • an instructor in IECA’s Summer Training Institute (formerly Practices and Principles Training Institute) for several years and has twice served as Chair of the Institute. She was honored with the Antonoff Award for Professional Achievement by IECA in May 2016. The award recognizes an IECA professional who has distinguished him or herself by their outstanding contributions to the profession of independent college consulting. Dr. Klaar teaches in the College Counseling program at UCLA Extension and formerly taught in the Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting at UC-Irvine. She has also taught at Assumption College in its Masters in School Counseling program. Charlotte is certified to administer/interpret the Holland Self-Directed Search (SDS), the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII).
