Chris Slattery

关于作者

Chris Slattery is a mechanical engineer turned farmer/homesteader. Having left the corporate world in 2014 to pursue his dream for a simpler way of living in step with nature, Chris has since been able to apply his unique skill sets to bettering the world of regenerative agriculture. Before settling on a farm of his own, Chris spent over 16 months learning directly from Joel Salatin (renowned farmer, author, speaker, and owner of Polyface Farms) as both an intern and apprentice. The amalgamation of his love for mechanical design and regenerative agriculture coupled with his hands-on building experience led Chris to team up with Joel Salatin to create a “first of its kind” comprehensive design manual for all of the farm's most iconic infrastructure called Polyface Designs. As a top seller in its’ genre, Chris’ first publication set a new standard for plan books. Finally, a recipe like approach that simplifies even the most complex homesteading design concepts. His expertise in technical illustration and eye for detail caught the attention of YouTube homesteading sensation @Justin Rhodes. The two have since partnered on a book series, Homestead Builds, that showcase’s the years of development and experimentation on the Rhodes’ family homestead. Chris and his wife currently reside on their family farm in Kentucky, where they enjoy regenerating the land, and growing happy, healthy livestock. They believe community forms around the dinner table, and enjoy bringing nutritious food to the mouths of those around them. In his free time, Chris is always thinking up new devices or improving upon processes to make day-to-day tasks on the farm more efficient.
