Christel Oerum

Christel Oerum has lived with Type 1 diabetes since 1997. She founded the Diabetes Strong website in 2015 and has built it into one of the most popular diabetes websites, with more than 500,000 monthly visitors. She writes about diabetes, produces diabetes videos on YouTube, is an active public speaker, and is an active part of the diabetes online community. Her goal is to provide accessible information in a format that makes life with diabetes easier. She has produced over 500 articles and recipes, created over 200 YouTube videos, and been featured on over 100 diabetes and health websites. Christel had a career in the diabetes pharma and medical device industry before founding Diabetes Strong, which is focused entirely on diabetes education. She is particularly passionate about exercising with diabetes, is a certified personal trainer, and has competed in bodybuilding competitions. She was born and raised in Denmark but now lives in Florida with her husband.
