Christian Sardet is a founder of the Laboratory of Cell Biology at the Marine Station of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Paris University (UPMC), emeritus research director at the CNRS, and author of numerous scientific publications. He is the recipient of the Grand Prix des Sciences de la Mer from the French Academy of Sciences. Creator of award-winning documentaries, animated films and DVDs, he received the European Award for Communication in Life Sciences from the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) in 2007. As one of the co-founder and coordinator of Tara Oceans expedition, devoted to a global study of plankton in all the oceans of the world, Christian Sardet initiated the Plankton Chronicles project http://www.planktonchronicles.org combining science and art to convey the diversity and beauty of plankton. - Degree in Biochemical Engineering: Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, Lyon, FRANCE (1967) - PhD.
