Christina M. Carroll (fondly known as "Tía Christina") is a commercial litigation trial attorney and a Mama to three plus a bonus son. That all means time is a precious asset, which she uses to guide her writing (i.e., short books for parents to read!). It also means she has quite the inspiration for her stories. Not to mention she's a (big) kid at heart. She's also learned firsthand why representation matters based on her own lived experiences, raising Afro-Latino kids, the books she reads, and the encounters she's had (and still has) throughout life.
