My name is Joan Beard but I am using the author name of Christina Peterson. The author name is a combination of my Mother's middle name and my Grandmother's maiden name. I got the recipes from my Mother's very extensive file of recipes. Many of the recipes are form my Grandmother, Aunt Lucella, a friend Billie Coates and other family members and other friends. My Grandmother homesteaded in South Dakota in 1908 She was a wonderful cook and baker. She pasted her love of preparing food to her daughers. She always had a huge garden on the farm. They canned not only the items from the garden but also meat. They made their own jellie and jams from the wild fruit. I learned a lot from my Mother and grandmother by watching and listening. Some recipes my Mother had to make so that whe would be able to tell how to do it. An example, I asked her for her mince meat recipe. I was living in Virginia at the time. In the mail I received a jar of mince meat and the recipe. She had to make it inorder for her to give me the recipe. It was a little of this and a little of that.
